Earlier this week I talked with someone who was present in Davos, Switzerland, during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. That’s where this person happened to meet Jim Wallis, CEO of Sojourners, blogger at God’s Politics, public theologian, and bestselling author. His wife, Joy Carroll, was one of the first women ordained as a priest in the Church of England. Wallis was invited to participate at Davos in a panel discussion about “Rethinking Values in a Post-Crisis World.” He’s also been interviewed numerous times prior to this international gathering about his new book Rediscovering Values: On Wall Street, Main Street, and Your Street. And he’ll be talking about all of this next Thursday, February 11, 7:00 p.m., at the Westminster Town Hall Forum (held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Nicollet Mall and 12th Street in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota). Here’s a taste of what’s on the mind of Jim Wallis these days from a recent interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show:
RECTOR’S CONTEST: Two familiar faces from St. Stephen’s Church in Edina, Minnesota, appear in the YouTube video at the end of yesterday’s post about Rowan Williams. What are their names, and when do they appear in “Being Responsible for the Future,” which runs from 1:00:00 to 1:46:44 (provide a specific time from the YouTube video as a reference)? The first five individuals who email me (see the link at the top of the sidebar) with the correct answers will each receive a free copy of Rediscovering Values: On Wall Street, Main Street, and Your Street.
UPDATE: There are currently four winners, only one to go.
