Gospel Praise (pictured above in front of Minnehaha Creek), an amazing vocal group from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, and Augsburg’s Jazz Ensemble will be returning to St. Stephen’s Church, Edina, this coming Sunday, February 14, at the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Gospel Praise has its own group page on Facebook, where you can watch a video of three members practicing a song about my home state of North Carolina that gives you a small taste of their abilities.
They will be joined by St. Stephen’s own gospel choir, Revelation, and our jazz group, Ensemble 11. You read that correctly, we have our own gospel choir and jazz group on the second and fourth Sundays of every month at the 11:00 a.m. worship service. The earlier service at 8:30 a.m. is reliably set to EST (Episcopal Standard Tradition) with glorious choral music, hymns, etc. But things become a little different as the morning progresses. You can listen to a sample of the music from that later service as proof. Better yet, come to St. Stephen’s this weekend and experience it in a community gathered around the Lord’s Table. And get there early for the prelude, which is guaranteed to lift your spirit for worship and the week ahead!
